On January 31, 2026, the IT, DevOps, and Analytics teams of VSS from Tacloban and Ormoc, in collaboration with VSS Missions, launched a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to respond to the urgent needs of children in Barangay Patag, Ormoc City. The outreach was driven by the community’s call for support, particularly for basic necessities such as slippers, school supplies, and food. Through this effort, hope was extended to the children of sugarcane farmers and “habal-habal” (motorcycle-for-hire) drivers, families who often struggle to meet even their most essential daily needs. Many of these children attend school and travel to the city without proper footwear, highlighting the depth of their challenges.

The distribution of essential goods not only met physical needs but also brought visible joy, as smiles lit up the faces of the children who received them. The day was further enriched with moments of worship, as volunteers shared songs of praise and Bible stories that uplifted both young hearts and the community at large. Beyond the beneficiaries, the outreach deeply impacted the VSS volunteers, reminding them of the blessings they hold and the privilege of serving as instruments of God’s love and compassion. It became a meaningful encounter where giving transcended material support and touched lives spiritually and emotionally. Indeed, the experience reinforced a culture of gratitude and service among the teams, strengthening their commitment to future outreach efforts. It also highlighted the power of unity within the organization, as different departments came together with a shared purpose to make a lasting difference. More importantly, the initiative planted seeds of hope in the community, inspiring both children and families to believe in a brighter future.
As it is written in Acts 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
