On May 6, 2025, a devastating fire swept through Camp Downes, Ormoc City, near the VSS Rockstar site. Upon learning of the tragedy, our Chairman immediately acted with compassion, instructing swift response and support for affected families. Initial inquiries revealed that three families within the community, known personally by one of our agents, had lost everything. With their details on hand, we sought and received approval from our Chairman, Brian Hiener and CEO, David Lemasters to extend immediate aid.
True to our mission as a faith-based company grounded in love and compassion, VSS delivered urgent relief the very next day. Each family received a sack of rice and a month's supply of food, hygiene kits, and essentials. We also distributed VSS shirts and mobilized a donation drive among volunteers for clothing, blankets, and other much-needed items. One beneficiary shared with gratitude, “This is more than enough to sustain us for a month. Now, if others give cash, we can start rebuilding instead of worrying about food.”
Beyond material aid, VSS became a vessel of spiritual comfort. In the spirit of Isaiah 57:15, reminds us, the Lord revives the brokenhearted—and that was exactly what took place. Beyond physical provisions, we shared prayers and the message of God’s love, which was met with heartfelt tears and gratitude. we stood with the brokenhearted and revived weary spirits through prayer and the Word of God. Tears flowed as families not only felt cared for physically but were uplifted by the message of hope.
We extend heartfelt thanks to our Chairman, CEO, and CFO for their decisive action, and to our volunteers from ZT Park who gave their time generously. Special recognition also goes to the Cruz sisters—Jorge and her siblings (all three working in VSS)—who not only facilitated swift response but also offered to follow up with the families, continuing the care we’ve begun. As faithful believers and proud VSS employees, as we plant the seeds they will continue to water it for a lasting impact in their own community.
"Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."
— 1 John 3:18
Through timely action, VSS proved once again that our mission is not just spoken—but lived.
