Driven by compassion and a heartfelt desire to give back, VSS General Santos employees launched their very first gift-giving activity at the St. Agnes of Montepulciano Children’s Home Inc. in Baluan, General Santos City on May 23, 2025. The event was a meaningful expression of love and generosity, made even more special by the enthusiasm of the volunteers who made it possible.

A total of 25 volunteers—from Operations, HR, Facilities, Management, and even the company nurse—came together to bring the activity to life. The atmosphere was filled with joy as they packed food items and school supplies, shared stories of past outreach experiences, and bonded over the shared excitement of doing something so impactful—especially for those participating for the first time. It was a true testament to VSS’s core values ofTeamwork and Happiness in action.

The team brought with them lunch meals for each child, along with biscuits, candies, school supplies, and essential goods for the orphanage, including sacks of rice, cooking oil, detergent soap, and other necessities. The children welcomed the volunteers with songs and dances, to which the VSS team joyfully responded by joining in the celebration. The shared moments of laughter, music, and connection left lasting impressions on everyone involved.

As the day came to a close, many volunteers left with wide smiles, while others were moved to tears—deeply touched by the children's resilience and spirit. The experience was a blessing for all, sparking an eagerness for more opportunities to serve.

In celebration of National Volunteers Week and as part of the month’s Engagement Activities, VSS Gen San honored its first-ever Corporate Social Responsibility volunteers with a hearty lunch to cap off an unforgettable day of service and gratitude.

As Scripture reminds us in James 1:27“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” And indeed, as inspired by the God we serve who according to Psalm 68:5 is, “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” Through this initiative, VSS Gen San stood as an instrument of that divine care—bringing hope, joy, and love to those who need it most. To God be all the glory!
